Once again TeamBirchwood are on the move to raise essential funds for Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue https://norlsar.org.uk

We are setting our sights to raise £6500 across 2024 to enable them to purchase underwater sonar drone.

The Sonar Drone is used to search underwater using sound waves that bounce through the water and hit an object. Once it hits the object it is then sent back to the device and is replaced as an object on a large screen to be processed and reviewed by specially trained members. Team members will then be able to use an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle to carry out further investigations and look to recover objects from under the water. This means we can reduce the cost of having a dive team come to scene.

The sonar drone will be operated off our boats which allows us to be able to search water ways, broads, lakes and other water borne courses for missing individuals.

The first challenge the team have set themselves is to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Now members of the Team have completed the Macmillan Mighty hike and then climbed Snowdon last year so this challenge combines both of these.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24-miles round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We have assembled a motley crew from the practice that includes GP Partners, Nurses, Nurse Associates, Dispensary Staff, First Contact Physiotherapists and Management. This fine team are looking for your support and encouragement to aid them on their way with donations large and small for this incredible charity.
