Myotonic Dystrophy Fund - Team 383

Four years ago, I was over 625lbs.  I was a chronic alcoholic, depressed, suicidal, borderline diabetic, and I was taking three blood pressure medications.
One night while playing a game on my tablet, I got matched up with a woman halfway around the world in London, England.  We immediately got along and began to develop an online friendship.
I learned that Jackie has an illness called Myotonic Dystrophy, and that she has stay very fit and active to keep her symptoms under control.  She didn't take her health for granted, and she got angry with me because I was throwing mine away.
On October 13, 2012, I quit drinking cold-turkey.  I gradually began eating healthier and exercising little by little.  18 months later, I had lost 383lbs.  I became a runner and am very active to this day.
I eventually flew to London to meet Jackie and we went to Paris and climbed the Eiffel Tower together.  Jackie is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I am alive today because she was there to help me.

Myotonic Dystrophy is a form of muscular dystrophy.  It is a neuro-degenerative disease that is characterised by muscle wasting and weakness over time.  This also can cause vision problems and heart defects.  There is no known cure for this disease and research for it is severely underfunded.

I will be running my first marathon this October in Detroit, and in honor of the amazing Jackie Eastham, I would like to raise money to help research a cure for this disease.  Hopefully this will benefit Jackie and many others who are affected by this.

Thank you all for your support!
