Our dear friend and college roommate, Peter Delvecchio, Wihchester High School 1986, Merrimack College class of 1990, was diagnosed with ALS over 2 years ago.
Since that time, he has regressed drastically, and is currently suffering through this dreaded diseases advanced stage. He is now wheelchair bound, has lost most of his dexterity, motor skills and verbal communications. He must now rely on assistance from others to endure the daily battle of this disease. We recently witnessed Peter’s struggles first hand, and sadly must report that Pete now needs 24 hour care.
As you may or may not know, ALS has also taken the lives of Pete’s mother Ginny, his uncle, and his grandmother. To say he and his family are devastated is a gross understatement, as they are reliving first hand, the daily torment that this disease imposes upon those closest to the affected.
Before he himself became afflicted, and after witnessing the struggles of family members living with ALS, Pete became heavily involved with charities that supported the efforts to find a cure, such as Embracing Life through Love, and the Angel Fund for ALS Research. Pete’s mom, Ginny, was the founder of the Angel Fund that continues to support the efforts to find a cure for ALS, the disease that eventually took her life.
The financial burden, along with the mental stress, imposed on the family has been overwhelming. Thus, we are asking for your help as part of a team of close friends who recently visited with Pete and his family. Our team is reaching out to our families, friends, coworkers, social networks, etc. and asking for donations to help pay for the costs associated with the 24 hour care he needs to survive.
We feel that this GOFUNDME page is the best way to reach a vast network as quickly as possible. We would like to encourage you to share this story and GOFUNDME page with your network as well.
