Team Kenton Street

On November 5, the Bowling Green City Commission first voted against the zoning change by a 3-2 vote. However, on November 19, 2019, the Bowling Green Board of City Commissioners held a second vote and approved the change from residential RM-2 (two families, residential zone) to be rezoned to commercial business by 2-1 vote. Rezoning Kenton Street and Greenwood Alley from residential to general business allows demolishing historical African American homes and replacing them with a contractor garage. Further, the contractor garage will adversely affect long term residents of Kenton Street and Greenwood Alley. Kenton Street and Greenwood Alley are recognized as a long-time (historical) African American neighborhood. Therefore, we are seeking assistance in raising money to pay legal fees and build a solid legal case opposing the zoning change.
