Team Kent is about to grow!
We have been on a challenging journey trying to start our family over these past 8 years. In 2010 we received news that we would not be able to easily start our family as most couples. So, we started the basics with a fertility doctor and then moved into IVF. We had gone through two egg retrievals and 6 transfers with each ending in miscarriages and heartbreak. At times it felt like a full-time job attending all of the doctor’s appointments, labs, ultrasounds, and hormonal shots while both of us were working full time jobs. The summer of 2016 our fertility doctor had given us two options, either adopt an embryo or adopt a baby. Our hearts immediately knew we wanted to adopt a baby. Even though IVF was challenging and unsuccessful, we were exhausted emotionally and financially, our hearts were still yearning for our own family. We did not want to give up and we have so much love to give that we knew there was a little one just waiting for our home.
Now, we find ourselves on the adoption journey and have been matched and chosen!!!! WE are incredibly excited to bring the newest little member of Team Kent home this December. Yes, that’s right, this December! Being cautiously hopeful, it is an absolute joy to know that we have been chosen and given this opportunity to be parents. Something we’ve been waiting on for years.
In order to adopt there is extensive paperwork, interviews, and an in-depth home study. It is a relief to say our home study is complete! Of course, along with every adoption comes expenses and fees beyond what anyone can expect. The estimated cost for this adoption is $37,000.00. This first portion estimate includes the lawyer fees, legal fees, and birth mothers’ expenses (rent and clothing). It does not include the home study, background checks and other legal documents that are an estimate $3000. Lastly, and in addition too, there are the travel expenses and unforeseen medical expenses. We are looking in the end, all said and done, for this to be a little over $40,000.00.
Recently, there has been a lot of questions from friends and family if there will be a baby shower. Great question, right! However, it is not custom to have a baby shower for adoption before we bring little Team Kent Home. It has been recommended that in lieu of or in addition to traditional baby shower items, we ask that maybe you would consider giving here. ANY amount helps and every dollar is helpful in bringing our little one home forever. It would mean so much to us for your prayers and support to our Team Kent family.
