Team #ELCAMINOTRAVEL Puerto Rico
Months after Maria, the island continues to recover from the devistating storms. Local food shelters are swamped working long hours to serve meals to the many islanders who are still without homes or power while the death toll has staggered to more than 1,052. Feeding those who have lost their homes and have limited access to resources is just one of the many ways we can get Puerto Ricans back on their feet. So El Camino Travel is partnering with Fundación El Platos Calientes, a NGO and other non-profits in San Juan to aid in the ongoing hurricane relief efforts.
January 3rd through 7th, 2018 a group of 10 volunteers from across the U.S. are heading to the arts district of Santurce to assist local chefs who are working around the clock feeding thousands of folks each day. We will cook and distribute food, run and clean kitchens and a will help with anything else they need.

In addition to our volunteering we are raising funds to help them buy the necessary supplies to continue their important work.
Your donation will help stimulate their economy and go towards:
- Salaries for local workers
- Gas for cooking/generators
- Bills for the space/electricity/utilities
- Cooking oils
- Basic cooking items like vinegar and salt
- Kitchen towels
- Paper towels
- Gloves
- Food
Beyond immediate relief efforts, our sources on the ground are telling us that tourism is going to be critical to the redevelopment of the island and its future, so our trip will support that front as well.
As we approach the holiday season and new year, we hope that you'll find it within your heart to make a contribution to help us make a difference for those who are not as fortunate. Every little bit helps and we appreciate your support.
With love,
El Camino Team Puerto Rico
