Teachers and staff appreciation gifts

Hi, this GoFundMe page has been set up by me, Nicola Cook — parent to a Yr 13 child — along with many parents of children at St Leonard's Catholic School in Durham, dubbed 'the worst affected school by RAAC'.

We cannot thank the teachers and staff enough for all the extra work and extra hours they've put in, supporting our children, despite the risk of burnout.

Therefore, any donation you're able to make is going towards small gifts*, coffee vouchers, cakes, chocolates and biscuits etc. for the 150 or so amazing teachers and staff we're lucky to have in our school.

Our entire school community has endured 22 weeks (and counting) of unmitigated disruption. We were one of only 2 secondary schools required to close completely at the beginning of this scandal in Sept 2023, and as we enter the second half of the 23-24 academic year, our school environment is still far from adequate. Day-to-day school life remains very challenging.

Although the school community is being reunited once again as the Yr7s & Yr8s return to the North End site and take up residence in the temporary accommodation, much of the learning environment is far from ideal and we're still without many facilities and specialist classrooms. The additional workload that this crisis has caused our teachers is beyond comprehension.

As parents and supporters of St Leonard's this is our way of demonstrating how much we value and appreciate our teachers and support staff, and to help bolster staff morale.
