Spreading Knowledge: Teaching in Malawi

The opportunity:
I've always felt a call to action when it comes to education. I'm driven to seek opportunities that will help me to be the best teacher I can be. I've also had a desire to travel to Africa for as long as I can remember. This summer I have a teaching opportunity to travel to Malawi, Africa to fulfill these dreams! Close friends of mine traveled there last year and I was blown away hearing about their experiences. I've been able to see how this opportunity impacted their teaching practices and I know this opportunity would be meaningful, purposeful, and so exciting for me! In Malawi I will be teaching at a local school and collaborating with other teachers from my region in SC and also native teachers in Africa!
The cost:
My volunteer vacation costs are comprised of transportation, meals, and a safari. I'll be staying in Malawi from June 15- June 29th. Aside from personal souvenirs, $3500 will cover my whole trip! Please know that any donation size would be extremely appreciated in funding my travel and living costs in Africa as I work to broaden my perspective of education!

Last summer the nonprofit organization "With Change in Mind" worked closely with more than 20 Teach For America corps members in South Carolina to create a meaningful and close to culture experience.
