Dear Friends and Family,
I have just been given what I consider “a once in a lifetime” opportunity! It is the opportunity to compete and take master classes in the YAGP ( Youth America Grand Prix ) Regional in Houston, February 19-21. YAGP is the World’s largest student ballet competition. I have two teachers/coaches who believe I am ready for this experience. One of my coaches is Sandra Bravo. She danced in Mexico and owns the studio where I attend. I have been with her for 6 of my 9 years of ballet training. The other coach, Heather Lacey, is new to me this year and is a God send. Heather won the junior division Youth American Grand Prix at the age of 14 and 1 year later was awarded a full scholarship to the School of American Ballet. After attending there, she was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Ballet School of London, completing the 3 year upper school program. Heather has danced in London, Germany, Singapore, South Korea and the U.S.
The reason I want to compete in the YAGP this year is because I qualify to compete at the junior level because of my age – 14. If I return to this competition anytime during the next 4 years, I would have to compete at the senior level. I am interested in going to learn as much as possible, begin getting my name out there and experience this level of quality ballet. I believe I have a God given talent for ballet and want to use it to dance for the Glory of God. That is why I am pursuing ballet.
In order to be able to compete in February I am going to need funds. I am paying the initial $100 registration fee myself. It is all the other expenses I need help with. These include the $100 solo fee, more point shoes, weekly private lessons, the cost of a “pancake tutu” and travel expenses for the competition weekend. This totals about $2,300. I would like to ask you to consider making a financial donation. Most of my expenses have already started occurring. Donations large or small will help this dream come true.
