Evan Michael Minis was born on June 19th, 1985 to Mary Ellen Everett and Kim Minis. Evan’s middle name, Michael, was decided by his older brother Jonathan, who when asked what his name should be, answered “Michael Jackson”. Evan was affectionally called “Gooey” by his Mom. Growing up he loved all things Star Wars, South Park, and comic books – especially ‘The Maxx’. He was raised in Culpeper, Virginia.
Evan’s jovial disposition and giggle was illuminating. Evan was known for remembering the “small stuff” about his friends, and checking in on how they were doing. He always made sure to give a big bear hug hello and goodbye. Evan was a talented artist with a unique style that he loved to share with others. You could always count on Evan for a funny story, a new collage piece, or a toot from a kazoo.
Evan met his beloved Tara when they were in their early 20’s. Their connection was instant and undeniable. In 2016, they welcomed their beautiful, spunky, and sassy daughter, Johanna Ellyn. Evan and Jo Jo were inseparable and always adventuring. They enjoyed playing at the river, dressing up, and exploring.
Evan is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen, and his older brother Jonathan Matthew Minis. He is survived by his life partner, Tara Katherine Barnes, and their daughter Johanna Ellyn Minis; among other family and many friends.
