Tanzania Study Abroad 2018
Donation protected
Hi everyone!!! As you all know, I recently received a grant to go to Arusha, Tanzania for 8 weeks to study Swahili more in depth. While the grant covers my tuition/room and boars costs, it was just confirmed that it does not cover my travel costs(airfare and shuttles). My majors are in Global & International Studies(African Focus) and World Politics. I want to work with LGBTQ+ policy in Africa once I finish my earning my degrees here at MSU, and I of course will need to know the culture, language, and law before I go do that. This trip means the world to me, not only because I hope to work in East Africa one day, but also because it is almost like a once and a life time opportunity.A almost full paid trip? To East Africa? For 8 weeks? Getting MSU credits for free????? I honestly could not imagine turning this trip down. But, the cost of a round trip is almost $2,400. While I do have some money saved up, it’s just not enough to cover the whole cost of airfare and shuttling from Nairobi, Kenya to Arusha, Tanzania. I would hate to have to turn this amazing opportunity down purely based on the fact that I cannot afford the airfare. Thats why I’m asking you all for help! I’m trying to raise $1,100 and also work as much as possible before I need to purchase the plane ticket. It would be amazing if you all could share this, or donate to help me reach this goal.
