Tanya Nicole Taylor-Winchester lived her life to the fullest. She was a long time Alaskan resident and respected educator. Tanya began her battle against breast cancer in 2016. She fought with grace and strength for more than a year. Tanya shared her testimony with all that would listen. She was thankful that her journey inspired others to bravely fight too. Tanya entered into God's embrace on September 29, 2017. One day after her 47th birthday.
As an educator, Tanya took great pride in her ability to connect to young learners. Some would even call it a gift. Many of her current and former students have come out of the woodwork to express the difference that Tanya made in their lives. We are hearing things like… “she was more than a teacher to me”. She was MORE than a teacher. She was a confidant, a counselor, a mentor, a second mom to so many young people. Their lives have been forever changed by the light she gave.
With this in mind we, her family, felt that it would only be fitting to establish The Tanya Taylor-Winchester Scholarship Fund. We hope to raise money to provide a scholarship to a deserving student this coming Spring and many years to come. We know Tanya would have liked this and we hope we are making her proud.
