Tallahassee 911 Memorial
Donation protected
20 years ago the events of 9/11 changed America. In 2011, Mike Terhune acquired a 11ft steel beam from the South Tower of the World Trade Center, to be made into a memorial to the victims and events of that day. The chosen site is on the grounds of the Capital Chapter of the Red Cross, next to TFD Station 16, Leon County EMS and Headquarters.
The memorial will have the beam be the gnomon of a sundial, sitting on a pentagon-shaped pedestal, with timestamps of that day. A stand-alone obelisk will sit off to the side with the names of the fallen.
Information boards will be placed around the site telling the story of that day.
Help us make a long lasting memorial in the capital city.
