Tailor's Medical Journey
Donation protected
On November 23rd, Tailor started getting extreme migraines that prevented her from getting out of bed for several days. After two trips to urgent care, she was sent over to Mercy Hospital for a CT scan. Her scan came back clear, and she was sent home. The migraines continued to worsen and eventually sent her into a state of delirium. After two more trips to the emergency room and multiple scans, she finally received an MRI. The MRI revealed that she had a mass growing behind her left eye and was referred to UAMS in Little Rock.
On Dec. 12th, Tailor made the first trip to Little Rock to meet with a team of doctors to go over the scans and start a plan. They then scheduled a second MRI and scheduled surgery for the following month. On Jan. 13th, Tailor left for a 3-day stay in Little Rock for surgery the following day. They were able to remove the mass and send it off for biopsy. The results came back as a pleomorphic adenoma, which is known as a rare benign tumor that grows in the jaw area. If not removed entirely, this kind of tumor is known to grow back cancerous. The doctors then considered Tailor’s case extremely rare given that it was growing behind her eye, near her lacrimal gland (the gland that produces tears).
On Jan. 22nd, Tailor was supposed to make another trip down to Little Rock for a post-op exam but instead had to leave on the 21st for another surgery. Given the results and lack of case studies/information about cases similar to hers, the team of doctors decided it would be best to go back in and remove the whole lacrimal gland. The surgery was successful, and the gland was sent off for biopsy. She's now scheduled for another MRI and then must complete 6 weeks of radiation. Given the distance, she will be temporarily moving to Little Rock for the duration of her treatments.
If you're able to help, all donations received will go to Tailor and her family to help with medical and living expenses.
