HUGO IS COMING HOME!!

Donation protected
Hello All,

We are once again reaching out to the community for support in the case of Hugo Aguilar. Hugo arrived in the United States in 1994 with his parents and siblings. Coming to a new country at such a young age, took a toll on Hugo and it forced him to make some decisions he now regrets. As a result of those decisions, he was convicted of a drug offense in 2005, which then resulted in his deportation in 2007.

Without any other options, Hugo was forced to return to the United States in 2008 and was doing exceptionally well. Mr. Aguilar was able to maintain a good job and had no further run-ins with law enforcement until March 2017, when he was wrongly accused of domestic violence. However, no charges were ever filed and he was released from Santa Rita jail the same day, but immediately detained by ICE as he was exiting the jail. Within hours, Hugo was transferred to the West County Detention Facility and has been there since.

Hugo is a proud father of 3 U.S. citizen children who miss their father dearly. For almost 17 months, Hugo's children have been without their father and Hulissa, his 12-year-old daughter, has been very outspoken about how much she needs her dad home. Mr. Aguilar's youngest son is 3 and because of Hugo's detention, his son does not know his father and is always asking when his dad will be home from work, since that is what his family has had to tell him.

In February 2018, Hugo's asylum case was denied and he now awaits the decision on his appeal from the 9th Circuit Court. However, for the past six months, his attorney has worked tirelessly to get a bond hearing for Hugo and thankfully, bond was GRANTED today!

However, we continue to bear witness to the unjust immigration court decisions that cause additional hardships on our beloved community members and their families because the bond amount was set at the excessive amount of $80,000. Clearly, the court knows the family doesn’t have this money sitting around  and that is why again, we are asking for your support.

Hugo’s family would appreciate any donation and as you can imagine, are eagerly awaiting the moment that they have Hugo home with them again.

As always, we are so grateful for your continued support and appreciate everything you all do and ask that you share this as widely as possible!
