Our youngest daughter Karissa just turned 20. She is passionate about the Lord, her family and her friends. She loves mission work and helping people to see that Jesus loves them with an unconditional love.
In December of 2014 Karissa left for Uganda Africa to fulfill a calling on her life. She was scheduled to spend 6 months there with a family from our church as a nanny for their 4 boys. She ended up coming home a month early due to debilitating headaches; that was May of 2015. She has not gone one day without a headache since about April (that's 9 months to date).
She has seen a chiropractor, had an MRI, she's had numerous tests run by our family doctor, and has seen many other doctors. Finally, it was recommended that we take her to a concussion specialist (due to an incident she had while in Uganda). She was then diagnosed with Post Tramatic Visual Mid-line Shift Syndrome. We have been taking her bi-weekly to Canon City (about an hours drive) to see an eye specialist. She has been wearing prism glasses since November and her mid-line shift is correcting. However, her headaches, dizziness, balance issues and fatigue are not improving.
Our next steps are to re-visit the concussion specialist and see what is next in her treatment. In the meantime her bills are piling up and she is unable to work or even drive.
This past December Karissa got engaged! (We are all so excited). She would love not to have any medical debt going into marriage. (Wedding date - October 22, 2016)
