Did you know? One fertile female Pit Bull can produce an average of two litters per year, average litter size is 6-10 puppies. That means ONE unspayed female can lead to 508 UNWANTED DOGS over the span of 7 years.

Did you know? Up to 1 MILLION Pit Bulls are euthanized in shelters across the country every year for no reason other than the need for space and lack of resources.

What is the answer to reduce the number of dogs euthanized every day in shelters? SPAY & NEUTER!

We are a new coalition of existing 501c3 non-profit animal welfare groups. We decided to join expertise, experience and passion to reduce the number of Pit Bull type dogs who enter the shelter, in turn reducing the number of Pit Bull type dogs that are euthanized EVERY DAY. Intakes in shelters in the southeast are on the rise, and so are the euthanasia rates. Our objective is to spay & neuter dogs in need for free in at risk areas in the south. Equally as important is Heartworm education. In addition to Spay & Neuter, we plan to test and treat these dogs for heartworms which can cause a very painful death if left untreated.

We are in very early stages of development and the money raised is going to get us in the door of many places and get corporate and product donations to assist & so the faster we get to the $40k goal the more serious we will be taken by municipalities we offer to help as well as bigger companies we solicit assistance from. Meet the people behind the Coalition:

Susan Stump - A strong advocate and voice for the animals since 2009 that has established a top notch reputation and brings a large book of contacts and resources from the north, south and various large donating sponsors from around the country wanting to help.

Big Hearts Big Barks Foundation. (Formerly Carolina Big Hearts Big Barks Rescue) Lisa Schauseil, Suzy Blocker & Patricia Haynes ran CBHBB Rescue dedicated to the rescue of large breed dogs (mostly Pit Bulls) for 7 years having rescued, vetted and found loving homes for almost 1500 dogs. Now Big Hearts Big Barks Foundation, they are focused on Spay & Neuter efforts preventing dogs from ending up at the shelter.

Running for Rescues. Jodi Strissel Dougherty Running for Rescues helps fund small grassroots rescue organizations that are on the frontlines, pulling dogs from shelters before they are euthanized.

Underdog Outreach Project. Ali Pozsonyi and Cindy Miller Moore. Their mission is to keep dogs out of shelters while improving the quality of life for both the dogs and their owners in need with an emphasis on spay and neuter.

Jana Aviles - Known by the rescue community as former Placement Coordinator/Shelter Care Supervisor for Cabarrus County, and Director for Stanly County Animal Protective Services. Who also is responsible for implementing life saving policies & procedures at those shelters as well as establishing and maintaining an excellent reputation along with relationships with the rescues, but also sponsors, contributors, media & public From

We are backed by Dr. Sokoloff of Sycamore Animal Clinic. She has made herself available for advice and guidance as well as volunteering her time and help make sure all animals get excellent care and treatment and help us recruit other veterinarians with an excellent reputation to perform alter surgeries for those in under served communities.
