Modern Human Sex Trafficking in America: Expanded, Excused, Unexposed

My name is Kanyon Darnell, and I am a senior at The River Academy. My senior project consists of a thesis paper and presentation, proposing a topic that can be argued and defended by my research and investigation. The final step of this project is to create a “Poiesis,” which is to put this idea into action, hence why this text is part of a Gofundme link, asking for your support in my mission.

I chose to take a stand against modern human sex trafficking in America, as it is a rapidly growing, staggering crisis that must be combatted and rooted out through stronger attention from the church, political reform, and moral transformation in society. America has been marked as the powerhouse of the world in leading this sickening cataclysm, and it is time we take a stand and stop excusing it as “too big of a problem”. My thesis dives deep into the rugged grounds of how and where to stop this overwhelming problem, pinpointing precise areas in American society that must awaken, drastically change, expose, and attack the leading groups and perpetrators of sex trafficking that harm so many millions of innocent people and children, all while having hope. Listed below are just a few of the crucial, eye-opening statistics gathered from my research and paper, exposing just how legitimate and detrimental this crisis has become.

Through staggering statistics of increasingly high numbers displaying children and women sold for sex, held captive, and raped through border manipulation and sickly personal pleasure in every single state, come American citizens still hoping and expecting that someone else will fight back and do the job. I argue that the American church should have the utmost duty and deepest knowledge in this area, along with the most passionate convictions and sharpest, most effective tools for fighting this evil.

In putting my thesis into action, I am raising money for “The Innocent,” a nonprofit organization focused on combating child sex trafficking, exploitation, and sexual assault in the United States. Founded by Nate Lewis, a Wenatchee Valley native, The Innocent offers complimentary hands-on training and operational guidance to law enforcement investigators, helping them build robust cases, increase arrests, improve conviction rates, and enhance sentencing. They protect the innocence of these children. My goal is to raise $3,000 to assist The Innocent in their mission.
