Many of you have recently heard of the sudden passing of our dad. Anyone who’s dealt with loss knows how difficult it is, but additionally, his living in the Philippines and working through this is overwhelming. While we deal with the emotions and loss, we are all very much struggling with the logistics and costs associated with the hospital there and getting him back home.  The process alone has been so much more difficult than anyone could imagine and has recently required us to contact the US Embassy there.

Unfortunately, our dad did not have life insurance and his Medicaid is not applicable in the Philippines to cover any of the hospital cost. The hospital, their local funeral home, and the transport service to get him back to the US do not accept American credit cards so everything had to be paid full, in cash.  These costs are all in addition to the funeral service we will have here at home.

While we are fortunate to have each other as siblings to pool our resources together, the hardship is more than we can manage.  A family member suggested we try this means and after much consideration with Joey, Alexis, and Priscilla, we have decided to ask for your help.

So with some mixed emotion, we are reaching out and asking family and friends for help. If you knew our dad, enjoyed conversations and his antics, were part of our growing up or knew him recently… I’m sure the next thought you have of him is “He was such a character!”
