As many of you know in the weee hours of May 7th my daughter in law Simone was in a serious car accident on the Malahat.

She had finished her night shift and was driving to pick up her 16 month old daughter Kaia from our home, when she was faced with everyone's worst fear a suspected intoxicated driver was driving Southbound towards her in the Northbound lane with barricades on either side of her.

Left with no options she swerved into the barrier which likely saved her life, but she was unable to avoid the car hitting her.

On the 8th Simone under went surgery to have rods and screws inserted into her right forearm and femur.

She is still waiting to hear if surgery is needed to fix the broken bone in her heal.

Simone has started physio therapy and was able sit and stand on her good leg but for the next 6-8 weeks will have to be non weight bearing on her entire right side.

After that she will start regular physio therapy to regain use of her arm and leg.

As a single mother, this changes everything for the forseeable future.

This accident has left Simone unable to care for Kaia independantly. It is not known when she will be able to return to work, not only due to the physical impact but also the mental trauma that comes with having to drive the Malahat every day to get to work after such a horrific accident.

We are graciously reaching out to our community to help support her and Kaia through this incredibly hard time.

At this time us and her family are doing everything we can to support Simone and Kaia as they navigate this long road ahead but the financial burden is going to be more than anyone can handle alone. All donations will go directly to Simone's recovery and to support Kaia.
