My name is Amany and I’m writing for my friend Nabil Abed Elrahman, a civil worker from northern Gaza whose life has been upended by war. Before the conflict, Nabil invested everything into buying an apartment for his family, only to face unbearable debts, partial destruction of his home, and the agony of being separated from his wife and children—who fled to Egypt for safety. Now, with almost no income, he struggles to support two households while repairing what the war has broken.

His Story:

Nabil, like so many in Gaza, worked hard as a civil employee to secure a future for his family. He took on heavy debts to buy and prepare their apartment—only for war to strike, leaving it partially damaged and his income nearly gone. With no savings and prices for food and repairs skyrocketing, he’s trapped:

• Separated from his family: His wife and children are in Egypt, but he must pay for their survival and his own in Gaza.

• Crushed by debt: Loans for his apartment loom over him, with no way to repay.

• A home in peril: Though standing, his apartment needs urgent repairsز
