On the 14th of October, our dear friend Dan tragically lost his beloved wife Louise.
Louise was diagnosed with Alagille syndrome at birth, a rare genetic condition that affects the liver and heart. Despite the challenges she faced throughout her life, Louise remained strong, loving, and full of hope. She was a devoted mum to Bella (10) and Chester (6), and a wonderful step-mum to Tyler (13). Her family meant everything to her.
In September, Louise became increasingly unwell due to complications from her condition and was placed on the transplant waiting list. On Thursday 9th October, she was transferred from QA Hospital to the Royal Free Hospital in London for specialist care.
The following day, four doctors came to speak with Louise and Dan. Expecting to hear about the next steps for her transplant, they were instead told the devastating news that Louise had developed uncontrollable liver cancer and had only days to live. As you can imagine, this was something they never saw coming and could barely begin to process.
Just four days later, on the 14th of October, Louise sadly passed away.
Because of her lifelong health condition, Louise wasn’t able to get life insurance, leaving Dan and the children facing financial hardship on top of their unimaginable grief. Dan, who is self-employed, is now trying to support his family while navigating life without Louise.
We, as Dan’s friends, want to rally around him and help ease some of the financial pressure, whether that’s towards funeral costs, bills, or supporting Bella, Chester, and Tyler through this heartbreaking time.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference and show Dan and the children that they’re not alone.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support. with Love Alex and Clare
