SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY CLUB

Donation protected

Ladies & Gents, Family & Friends, Patrons & The Wider Nottingham & Irish Community please can we lend your ear for a few important minutes!

We are writing to you today in a time of sheer uncertainty.

Our appeal is to solidify the future of our community club by simply asking for any donation at all that you can make big or small because we now need your help to keep our community club going.

Whatever you can afford to give during this time will be whole heartedly appreciated by us all.  We understand that some people will also be financially falling on hard times themselves & instead we ask them that if they are struggling then not to donate but to contact us in confidence as there may be a way that we can support you during this time & this will be in total discretion.  All is not lost, we are here for you.

The latest updates from our Government will see small businesses around the UK closing their doors this weekend (20th March). These closures will have a big effect on the future of all business
‘s & may even see some remain closed.

Here at the Greyfriars we are determined more than ever to now pull together to ensure that our future is certain & that we can continue to operate & serve our community once this storm has passed.
Of course these things come at a cost & we will need to continue the maintainance of the building & some finances during this time.

We do not know yet what the future holds & in the weeks ahead our committee and management team are working hard as a unit to put together a strategic plan of action for OUR fantastic little club to remain afloat in these most difficult unprecedented times.

Let us start by saying if you know anything about ‘The Greyfriars’ you will know that since it’s inception in 1959 it has been a foundation of charity, friendships, socialising, comfort, fun & love for anyone and everyone who has passed through its doors.
It’s places like OUR club that teach our children what it’s all about to be apart of a community, to give to people who are less fortunate, to help those who are in need, to develop, learn & trust in making new relationships with each other forging unbreakable friendships & to enjoy the time we have with those we love & cherish over a celebration or two!
At the Greyfriars we make the best memories because we make them together & even when sometimes we fall on hard times we only have to reflect and remember the good times we’ve spent at our club & our spirits are uplifted again reminiscing of good times gone by & those that have left us but are never far from our hearts.
Our club is our community safe haven when we are in the Greyfriars we are metaphorically speaking for most if not all of us in our happy bubble some might say a time warp as it’s not always easy to leave or have ‘just the one’!
We are not prepared to sit back and let this pandemic burst our bubble & we are going to do everything we can to thrive but we need your help now more than ever & we are hoping you can return the favour.

These are hard times for us all and we have reluctantly taken this decision as an option we must take to increase funds to keep the operational costs of the Greyfriars ongoing until the effects of this pandemic have passed.
We have no interest in making profits our sole goal for OUR club has only ever been to sail continuously but comfortably down the stream to do our best at keeping our staff in employment, to pay our bills, to serve our club & community, to give our customers a good time & to pass this on from generation to generation to reap what we sew.

A lot goes on behind the scenes at The Greyfriars voluntarily and has done for many many years by so many amazing individuals & these are the same people that are busting their proverbials for us today purely because of their love for the ‘Club’. We are asking you to join us only if you can!

We would like to extend our eternal gratitude for your support during this uncertain time & are remaining positive for the future.
It’s going to be one MEGA reopening shindig!
