Support Women, LGBT Refugees in Getting to Safety

Freedom Connection is a passionate volunteer team of creative, business, and tech leaders from California. We believe in freedom for all people.

We assist refugees who are women and girls, LGBT+, and human rights defenders. We partner with at-risk leaders from these communities in getting to safety. Freedom Connection provides the means to flee their countries and the assistance to start new lives. We understand the steps necessary to evacuate them quickly, with a minimum of risk. In 2022, we helped evacuate 50+ refugees from trouble spots around the world.

To achieve these results, the Freedom Connection team works with American non-profits, international NGOs, volunteer groups, and others to identify persecuted refugees and provide assistance in ways others might not.

We are collaborating with one of the most effective and agile refugee rescue organizations in the U.S., a 501c3 non-profit called SCM Medical Missions, in Seattle. We created the Freedom Connection Fund at SCM to pay for our work. Donations made on this GoFundMe page will go directly to get vulnerable people to safety. This is an all-volunteer operation, with no staff or overhead.

For the first half of 2023, we are raising $30,000 to pay for the expenses of evacuating and supporting our refugees. Expenses include:

• securing essential travel documents so they can leave their country

• transporting them to a safer, interim country

• paying for all food and accommodations until they arrive in an asylum country

• providing emergency medical care

• offering educational instruction for children while they wait to be permanently resettled

• assisting the (women-led) families left behind to survive in difficult times
