If you can't give anything please pray and share with your friends.

Please give anything you can to help with lawyer fees to reunite Wendy with her 8 month old baby. There is no amount too small ir too large and anything is greatly appreciated. My neice Wendy Spurgeon Cross had an addiction problem for years after giving birth to her 2nd child and had to have a c-section. She became addicted to pain pills. It has been a long hard battle for her as well as for her family. Wendy was at rock bottom during this time, her mother passed away during the Covid pandemic. She lived with her mom and Daddy at the time. Later her dad and his new girlfriend kicked her out of her home on Christmas Eve after dark walking in the cold rain. She left with absolutely no way to go and with nothing but the clothes on her back. She lived wherever she could lay her head. Looking for love in all the wrong places she became pregnant. Because of other health issues that she was having she had no idea she was pregnant until 3 weeks before she gave birth to her son. She was on suboxen, which was prescribed for her to help her get off other drugs while she was pregnant. Her doctor told her not to stop taking it at that point because it could be harmful, maybe even fatal for her unborn baby. When he was born naturally he was born with that in his system so the day before she was released from the hospital DHR stepped in to take her baby, which I agree was the correct thing to do at that time. She had very little time to come up with a safety plan to keep her baby out of the system. Her cousin happily came from Troy to take him to keep him in the family. Wendy was living in a very unstable situation. She called me on December 24th because she was being kicked out again because of a dispute to use her deceased Mother's car to come help me cook Christmas Dinner for our entire family. Wendy had already detoxed herself on her own at that time, in hopes of getting her baby back. I immediately went to pick Wendy up. DHR had given her a hair follicle test, which she failed. I told Wendy she could live in my basement since it was already furnished as an apartment as long as she stayed drug free and I would help her get back on her feet. I set some tough goals for her and she never once complained about anything I asked her to do. We started with getting her a job as a sitter. Next we got an appointment the dentist and got $4,000 worth of dental work done because she was so full of infection and sick all the time. She drove my car to work for a while. Then she went to work for Elderly Care in the Chelsea, Pelham area. We done some trading on some property she had and I bought her a car to drive to work. We got her connected on Life 360 so I could monitor where she was and what she was doing at all times. She goes to work and comes home. I see her everyday and she gives me her check and I give her money as needed. I keep it locked in the safe and write down what she gives me and what she gets out and what it was for. The lady she sits for in Pelham told Wendys boss that out of 17 other sitters she did not want nobody else to be sent to sit with her mom but Wendy. She has been very good to Wendy and fives her good advice. In the mean time her Cousin sued her for temporary custody of her baby. Wendy finished all her parental classes and substance abuse classes early and aced all the test given to her. She has worked her butt off and had to fight her Social Worker tooth and nail for her baby. Wendy had to go over her head to try to get him with another family closer than a 5 hour round trip to home but ever since Wendy went over the social workers head she favors the other party and I have been told that there is a family member working at DHR that is kin to the other party's mother so they are working against Wendy. Three months after the first hair follicle test they gave her another one and said it would take 2 weeks to get it back. Wendy and I were both extremely excited to get it back and get started in bringing her baby home where he belongs. She kept calling to try to get the results after the 2 week period with no success. After almost one month going by the Social Worker called and told Wendy that she failed the test but it was very faint, which, clearly means they gave it a little too early. Wendy asked her social worker when she could take another one because she knew it should be clean because she had not had any drugs in her system other than what she had prescriptions for during her dental work. Mrs. Thrash told her she wasn't sure that was even an option for her at this point. She said the judge would probably just sign her baby over to her cousin. Wendy asked her where she could get another test done immediately and that she would pay for it out of her pocket because she knew she was clean and her Case Worker told her that there was no where around here to get a hair follicle test done on her own. We were told that her 2nd test was probably done a little too early thanks to DHR not giving quite enough time to pass it. We went to a lawyer one week later He told us where to go in Oxford to get it done. We left his office and went straight there and she passed everything. It only took 2 days for them to send us a copy of the results. It was one week after she recieved her results from the positive test. DHR refused to give her a copy of her results and went
straight to the other party and told her that she failed the test. I'm pretty sure that is against HIPA laws and We still have to fight for her baby but it's going to cost Wendy $5,000.00 plus. She has to have it all before the end of July. Last week Wendy was T-boned at a stop sign that totaled her car and left her with injuries that has prevented her from working at this time. She is really being tested right now but Wendy loves God and she has complete trust that he is with her through all this and he is making her stronger for what is yet to come. She has complete faith that God is working everything out abd she gives him praise every single day. There is so much more to this story that many of you could not even imagine what shes going through. So many people have kept up with most of it. Wendy has made her life an open book from day one. She constantly tells it all and gives thanks to God. She has made her love for God known and she testifies to his blessings to everyone she talks to. Right now she needs our help to get her lawyer paid so he can help her fight for what rightfully belongs to her. Her own flesh and blood. I have never seen anybody love their kids more than Wendy. She has 2 other children that have both turned out yo be great kids. Her Daughter is 21, graduated and works. Her 2nd born is her Son who just graduated with a 3.6 GPA as CumLaude and has been accepted to Auburn University. Wendy loves all kids, elderly people and animals more than anything. They love her the same. Wendy has successfully healed herself with Gods love and mercy, without any doubt from addiction. You can look her up on Facebook and read all her post about her life etc. Thank you so much for donations, prayers and sharing this fundraiser with your friends. We are going to bring Liam home soon.
