Håfa Adai familia, friends, and compassionate hearts,
We're Denise and Robin, otherwise known as Dee and Robbie. We are the nieces of the recipient of this Go Fund Me. We humbly ask for your prayers and support for a man who has dedicated his life to loving others well —Vincent Paul Cruz, also known as our beloved "Uncle Paul."
If you know our Uncle Paul, you know his heart. You’ve likely tasted his food—because if Uncle Paul cooks for you, it’s his way of saying, “I love you.” His cooking isn’t just delicious—it’s legendary. It’s been the soul of many family and friends parties, community gatherings, and quiet Sunday afternoons. But even more than his gift in the kitchen, Uncle Paul is known for his selfless heart, steady faith, and generous spirit. He embodies the CHamoru value of inafa’maolek—living in harmony with others, always seeking the good of the whole before himself.
A Season of Healing and Uncertainty
This past May, Uncle Paul received news that he would need open-heart surgery to repair two major blockages and a leaky mitral valve. His weakened kidneys made the surgery especially high-risk, but with faith in God’s plan, Uncle Paul faced it bravely.
Since then, the journey has been anything but easy. Uncle Paul has endured:
• Prolonged hospital stays
• Breathing difficulties
• Renal failure leading to lifelong dialysis
• Profound fatigue and weakness that have affected his motor skills
• And most recently, another hospitalization as doctors evaluate ongoing complications
Uncle Paul and Auntie Melin Need Our Help
As Uncle Paul fights to recover, Auntie Melin has been by his side. Both have had to step away from work to focus on healing and are now facing financial hardship.
We are asking for $5,500 to help ease the heavy burden they carry—medical expenses, prescriptions, transportation, daily living costs, and caregiving support. Every dollar makes a difference. Every prayer lifts them higher.
Let’s Be the Hands and Feet of Christ
Uncle Paul has always been the one who shows up—with a variety of dishes to share, a helping hand, a listening ear, and a humble heart. He gives lovingly and never asks for anything in return. Today, we ask on his behalf.
Let us honor his life of faith and service by coming together in the spirit of inafa’maolek—lifting him up the way he’s lifted so many of us. Whether through a donation, a kind message, or your ongoing prayers, your support is deeply felt.
We believe in a God who still heals. We believe in the power of community. And we’re holding onto hope that Uncle Paul will continue healing and gain strength each day.
Si Yu’os ma’åse’ nu i guinaiyan-miyu yan i ayudon-miyu.
Thank you for walking this road with him.
With deep love and gratitude,
Dee and Robbie
