UPDATE**- The Legion Post #1 refurbishment is completed, but we are still looking for more funds! Fortunately, generous donations from local businesses have helped us to finish our project significantly under our original budget! However, we still need a little more, and out new goal is $2,200. Please donate to finish off my Eagle scout project!
Hello, my name is Tristan Perri. I am a member of Troop 71 and am working toward my Eagle Scout rank this fall. For my Eagle Scout service project, I am refurbishing the outside of our beloved American Legion Post #1 in Leonia. The Post is an important yet underappreciated pillar of our community. It hosts our annual Memorial Day Parade (where they offer free hotdogs), sponsors scouting at all levels in Leonia and the surrounding towns, and is a central organization which supports our community of veterans.
My project is to repaint and refurbish the exterior of our post, which includes repainting our Cannon, Anchor, and flag box. We also intend to repaint our back porch and our wheelchair accessibility ramp, improving the safety and appearance of Post #1.
The project includes landscaping throughout the lawn, removing many large and unwieldy trees and bushes which obstruct and rapidly age our building.
Please donate to refurbish Legion Post #1 and help our community show our appreciation for our veterans.
