Let’s Support the Orphans and Family of the Late International Umpire Haji Bismillah Jan Shinwari

Dear friends, Assalamu Alaikum,

I would like to share with you the heartfelt story of a beloved member of our community—the late Haji Bismillah Jan Shinwari.

Born in 1984 in the Achin district of Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, Bismillah Jan’s youth was full of dreams and aspirations. Tragically, he lost his father at a young age and grew up an orphan—but that never stopped him from striving for a better future.

In 2011, he began his career as a domestic cricket umpire in remote regions of Afghanistan. Through hard work and love for the sport, he rose to become an international umpire by 2017. His mission extended beyond his career—he served his community during natural disasters, supported the poor, and stood for humanity.

Then in 2020, disaster struck. A landmine explosion devastated his family. Several relatives were killed or injured, and Bismillah Jan himself suffered severe injuries. Still, he continued his work in cricket with courage and commitment, carrying both emotional and physical pain with grace.

Sadly, on July 6, 2025, Bismillah Jan Shinwari passed away during a surgical operation related to his injuries. His passing is not only a great loss for Afghan cricket, but also a heartbreaking tragedy for his family—especially his ten orphaned children, who now face a life without their caretaker, without income, and without basic support.
