The Nameless provides services in St. Thomas, Ontario, to individuals experiencing homelessness and precarious housing impacted by mental illness and addiction, during times when local service providers are closed. Volunteers are engaged in proactive, street-level outreach, in an effort to both bridge the service provision gap, and to provide quick response to situations. This outreach includes education and assistance in harm reduction, distribution of food and harm reduction equipment, sharps clean up, access to personal care items and clothing, and in-community referrals.
A current goal for the quarter is acquiring a prepaid cell phone for use by the workers. Having a phone number specific to the group means the community can contact us when they're in need or in crisis, which would be invaluable.
In the long term, contributions from donors will help us build partnerships by demonstrating community support. This will pave the way to larger goals, such as a year-round drop-in center or shelter. As housing vacancies fall and homelessness continues to rise in St. Thomas, your donations will directly help those most in need.
