From 1970 to 1979, the spirit of Woodstock lived on in Stockbridge, MA, at Music Inn. For years, Music Inn was an integral part of the Berkshires' landscape and the last outpost of the 1960s counter-culture. That's why we are raising funds to create a film that tells the story of Music Inn.

Legends played there (including Bob Marley, James Taylor, and Tina Turner), but Music Inn was more than a venue; it was a destination. Owner Dave Rothstein converted an enclave of estate farm buildings into a hippie-village-summer-camp on the banks of the Stockbridge Bowl, where kids gathered on the lawn for twilight concerts and revelry.

It was an epic moment of artistic and cultural freedom and, looking back, an era of idealism and innocence, expressed through the great music of the age: jazz, folk, blues, and, ultimately, rock n’ roll.

For many years, community volunteers have maintained the Music Inn Archives, an ever-growing public collection of stories, memorabilia, photos, videos, audio, and memories contributed by the people who were there. These archives represent the collective memory of Music Inn as a cultural treasure worthy of a lasting place in history.

Now, we are coming together to make a film that documents the Music Inn of the 1970s and memorializes the spirit of that time. Your contributions will help us tell the story.
