Support the More Perfect Project's Mission

A big part of the Firearm violence problem in the United States is something that the other countries in the chart above do not have. The 2nd Amendment.

Fixing The 2nd Amendment

The preamble to the United States Constitution begins "We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,........."

The 2nd Amendment has created a mess in today's world. Please support the "More Perfect" Project's mission to fix the 2nd Amendment by adding the following amendment to the US Constitution:

'Notwithstanding the words "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" in Amendment II of the United States Constitution; Notwithstanding the Power of Congress to regulate Commerce in Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution; The States and the District of Columbia may regulate the ownership, uses, and commerce of Firearms within its own boundaries - so as to promote public safety, personal safety, safe recreational and sporting uses of Firearms. State Firearm regulations are to supplement, and not negate Federal Firearm laws and regulations.

Each State and the District of Columbia shall accommodate the safe and efficient transport of Firearms within and through its borders. The safe, lawful and appropriate activities of the United States Military and United States Law Enforcement shall not be infringed by any State and District of Columbia regulation governing Firearms.

The Spirit of the preamble to the United States Constitution is recognized.

This Amendment shall be operative 1 year after being ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States'

This is about giving State Governments the ability to try in their own way to lessen the unacceptable firearm violence that has, and continues to happen every day. Gun cultures and gun politics along with urban, suburban and rural populations vary greatly among the States. It follows that crafting a balance, for each of the 50 States, between a person's right to bear arms, and a more perfect union where people are safe from firearm violence, is largely a task that the Federal government is inevitably and appropriately ill equipped for. Each State deserves the right to search for its own best balance.

Right now the "More Perfect" Project is building a website at helpingout1776.org to begin the long journey of ratifying the above amendment to the US Constitution. Please link to helpingout1776.org to find details of how and why the "More Perfect" Project plans to succeed. If 10,000 people can contribute $5 each to build the "More Perfect" Project's website, we will be off the ground. The fundraising goal here is more about 10,000 people getting onboard, so please stick to the Go Fund Me minimum donation of $5. Helping Out 1776 is a not for profit corporation that is the sole founder and operator of the "More Perfect" Project. It may be a generational project, but now is a better time than later to begin the task of fixing the 2nd Amendment. Thank you.
