See What We Have Planned For 2025 And Beyond
Long time listeners of this podcast may know that we started producing our first episodes in 2013, so we are going on 11 years. We’ve definitely come a long way since those first episodes in 2013.
We are on track to release over 300 episodes by the end of the year and our YouTube channel just hit 500 subscribers!
In 2024 we stepped things up by taking Talking Taiwan on the road back to a Taiwan to cover the presidential elections in January. While in Taiwan, we interviewed democracy fighter and activist Dr. Linda Gail Arrigo (Ai Linda 艾琳達) about the events leading up to the Kaohsiung Incident, that many consider to be the watershed moment in Taiwan’s path to democratizing. That interview got us shortlisted at the 2024 International Women’s Podcast Awards in the Moment of Visionary Leadership in June.
Then in July we created an on-location podcasting studio at the 53rd annual Taiwanese American Conference, East Coast where we interviewed 12 guests in 3 days, including former Vice President Dr. Chen Chien-jen, who is best known for his excellent handling of the COVID pandemic in Taiwan.
In 2025 we will continue to expand Talking Taiwan’s reach.
In March 2025 Talking Taiwan will participate the Podcasthon, which is a globally coordinated effort. During the Podcasthon, podcasts from all around the world will dedicate one episode of their show to a charity of their choice and release these episodes simultaneously, in a coordinated effort, creating a massive and international wave of inspiring audio content.
We’ve decided to dedicate our episode to FAPA (the Formosan Association of Public Affairs) for all of the amazing advocacy work they do for Taiwan in the U.S. This is just one of the ways that we hope to broaden Talking Taiwan’s reach and exposure.
In July Talking Taiwan will return to the Taiwanese American Conference, East Coast (TAC-EC), then we will go west the Taiwanese American Conference, West Coast (TAC-WC), and north to TaiwanFest in Toronto, Canada.
We are always looking for ways to pay it forward, by being able to offer a stipend for an intern or research assistant, or setting up an honorarium fund for Talking Taiwan guests.
This year there have been lots of wins big and small for us. It’s a full-time job producing Talking Taiwan, but it’s work that matters and that’s taken on even more importance as Taiwan faces erasure and the threat of invasion from China.
Over the past 11 years the podcast’s content has really evolved, improved and grown.
In the past we’ve raised funds on a project by project basis, which is not efficient or sustainable. So we’ve decided:
It’s time to go all out, and run ONE BIG annual month long campaign to raise $100,000 to support our work for the coming year in 2025.
If you’ve been listening to this podcast and have found our content valuable in some way- you’ve learned something new, gotten inspired or informed, please consider making a donation to support all of this content we produce that you get to consume for free.
