Support Sweet Baby Sawyer
Hello everyone! My name is Sawyer and I’m 3 months old. My mommy, daddy and sisters love me very much and for my first month in this new world things were going pretty well. I was gaining weight and looking beautiful.
Then something changed. I started vomiting and wasn’t eating my food. My parents were doing everything they and the doctors could think of from waking me up every two hours and trying multiple different formulas. Eventually, my doctors decided to run some labs.
They found out I had a very high lactate level in my blood. So, Mommy and Daddy set up an appointment with a new kind of doctor, a geneticist. When we met, he said a bunch of scary things that could be the reason why I’m not feeling well. The grow-ups talked and after a week at home I was admitted to the hospital so that they could look after me closer and run more tests.
I’m on a new diet now and after many days of poking and prodding I’m exhausted. Instead of waiting weeks to a month to get any answers the nurses and doctors suggested getting a super expensive rapid test. The preliminary results are in and I was told that I have an extremely rare mutation of the EARS2 gene.
With what we know so far, I’m likely to have developmental issues and might not be here with everyone as long as I would’ve liked. My prognosis doesn’t look good, but for now my family and I are trying to get in as many cuddles and kisses as we can.
This has all been very scary and tough on Mommy and Daddy as well. We appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts that everyone has been sharing. The support means more than you could know, but if you still want to help please make a donation or simply share my story. The goal is for my loving parents to be able to take as much time as they need to spend with me and our family.
Thank you all so much for all the support,
Sweet Baby Sawyer
