Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I’m raising funds to give my girl Stella the dignified, joy-filled farewell she deserves.
Stella has been with me for over a decade. She’s more than a dog—she’s my certified support animal, my travel companion, and my most loyal friend. I met her in college, where she arrived into my life sick, underweight, and fragile—barely the size of a chihuahua. In healing her, I had no idea how much she would heal me in return.
She’s walked beside me through heartbreaks, cross-country adventures, family losses, creative milestones, and quiet mornings. With her expressive eyes and goofy grin, she’s made me laugh when I didn’t think I could, and held space for my pain without saying a word.
Now, her back legs are giving out. Her arthritis has worsened. She’s become incontinent and easily tired. But her heart? Still full. Still fighting. Still showing up with love.
What the Funds Will Support:
This journey is about love, comfort, and closure—and every detail is being considered with care.
- Pain medications and arthritis support to ease her discomfort
- dog walkers to help with her care on days her body can’t keep up and I have to work
- Rug runners throughout the house—she hates traction socks, and this helps her move around safely across the hardwood floors
- A Celebration of Life Parade — a final ride through her favorite places in a flower-decorated wagon, including:
- The park to watch the ducks, A trip to Starbucks for her beloved pup cup, Quiet moments in her favorite patch of sun, Visits with some of her best pup friends and humans, which will require some long-distance car rides.
- Vet-administered, in-home euthanasia, when the time comes, so Stella can pass peacefully in her own space, cradled in my arms
- Final services and cremation, followed by a last journey together: She really has been my "road dog," so I plan to take her ashes to a breathtaking place we have long desired to travel to, but haven't been able to, as the funds keep going to her elder care needs. I want nothing more than for her ashes to dance in the wind, releasing her free spirit. The rest will be brought home and buried in our garden, to regenerate life from the love she gave so freely.
