Hi, my name is Staar N. Oliver, and I’m a Newark-based writer, producer, and creative behind the upcoming television pilot IronBOUND.

Storytelling is who I am. It’s how I connect with people and bring their inner thoughts to life on screen, creating characters that feel real and relatable so no one ever feels like they’re alone in what they’re going through. I fell in love with this work when I was just 13, walking into Arts High School and realizing that this was more than a passion it was my purpose. Through storytelling, I’ve found a way to reach, heal, and inspire others. I give this my all, because this is where my joy resides.

My first two films, Postpartum and Circle of Sins, were both selected for several film festivals, and Circle of Sins even won Best Screenplay at the Newark International Film Festival. That moment reminded me that when you lead with truth and passion, people feel it. Those projects taught me how to build worlds, lead teams, and tell stories that reflect real communities especially the resilience and soul of Newark.

All of those experiences led me to my next chapter, IronBOUND.

IronBOUND is a bold, character-driven drama that dives deep into the hidden power structures, scandals, and secrets the city of Newark, NJ. When a popular journalist is found dead, detectives uncover ties among the city’s most powerful figures, exposing a deadly network of corruption, ambition, and betrayal. This project is not just about entertainment, it’s about showcasing diverse stories, local talent, and the power of truth hidden in plain sight.

Producing a pilot episode at a professional level takes resources, crew, equipment, permits, locations, wardrobe, and post-production. As an independent filmmaker, I’ve poured in my own savings and countless hours to get this far. Now I’m reaching out to my community for support.

Every dollar moves us closer to filming the pilot and showcasing Newark’s talent on screen.
