Hi! My name is Dave and my friend Sol needs some help. He's having surgery to remove potentially cancerous tissue from his abdominal region that is going to force him to spend a few weeks recovering before he can return to work. Unable to qualify for short-term disability benefits, Sol is faced with a loss of income until he can return to his job, and this is going to impose a significant financial strain on himself, as well as his partner, Vix, as well as their roommate.
**Please note that GoFundMe has recently updated its user interface, and will ask for a 'tip' on the donation screen. This 'tip' does not get donated to Sol, it is collected by GoFundMe to support the website. Do not add a tip unless you want to give money the site. Sol will not receive any amount 'tipped' as a donation.**
Sol would never ask for help, so I've taken it upon myself to ask in his stead. He needs approximately $2,000 to negate the financial impact of the surgery, and offset the loss of his income. I am asking you, whoever may be reading this, to donate what you can to help my friend in a difficult time. 100% of the donations will be going to Sol and Vix. If you're unable to donate, I understand completely, and I ask that you share this campaign on your social media instead.
I've known Sol for a little over a year now. We met through an online game, where we played alongside each other every day, so naturally we got to talking. I knew as soon as I met him that Sol was a special person. He's funny, outgoing, extremely empathetic and a phenomenal friend. He is a trans man from the state of North Carolina, and he is a beacon of optimism despite the discrimination that state enables with its government policies. Someday he is hoping to relocate his household to a more accepting environment, and I know that the cost of losing income for several weeks will create a barrier to that goal.
One last thing about me, I have launched and successfully funded one other GoFundMe campaign for another friend back in 2020. I know it can be hard placing your faith in a complete stranger, but I mean when I say that it hurts me that I can't make this problem go away for my friend. If you can help me help him, I would greatly appreciate it.
