Support single mother artist & daughter

Donation protected

We are a friend of Elisabeth Salmin (40 years old), an artist, single mother, whose four-year-old daughter was taken by the authority on the 27th of May, 2020, from the boat they were living in.

Elisabeth's daughter, Anju (4 years old) on their houseboat
Elisabeth is an artist creating animation , comics , art projects , documentaries, and short film. (Read about her profile in Dutch from here .)

She is from Estonia, and have moved to Amsterdam to study animation and film creation. She has a four years old daughter and now struggling to find work while homeschooling her daughter.

She is also an activist for human rights, environmental issues, and write blog addressing issues . Every time my son and her daughter play together in parks, she is always busy collecting garbage and putting them in the garbage can.

An anonymous complaint was made that it was "dangerous" for a child to live on a boat (Lange Stammerdijk 18b). Therefore, the Dutch authority had taken her daughter away from the mother.

Elisabeth had been renovating the houseboat with limited sources, as the family had a comfortable life on the boat.

The authority/government had failed to give them proper support for the mother and the child, without appropriate support for the family. Instead, they separated the mother and the daughter, leaving them with negative trauma. We would like to raise donations to support the mother to set up housing to live with her daughter, enroll the child in a school, and find and go to work.

So we like to raise donations in which the funds will be used for fixing and renovating the boat to include:

- Kitchen
- Shower/Toilet
- Sleeping area
- Roof (from plastic covering to wood)
- Insulation

We are increasing the amount so that she can find a room/apartment where she can register. She is now looking for a job so she can sustain herself and her daughter’s living costs in the near future. In the previous court ruling, it was ordered that the child will not return for another 6 months to focus on her Dutch language.
