We have been family friends of the Mendez’s for 10+ years, to say ‘Mr. Rene’ has had a rough health patch would be an understatement and God faithfully got him through.. now.. on May 20th he was in a severely bad hit and run car accident. Sheriffs are searching for the run away driver. 

As of today (May 21, 2025) he does not need emergency neck surgery, but has severe damage to his neck. He is still in the hospital and they are awaiting a throat specialist and more doctors before he can be discharged. He has a long road ahead of him for his recovery once he is home.

He will be in a neck brace for a minimum of 8 weeks- which will financially impact Rene and Luz tremendously. And we have no idea how long he will be unable to work as its physical work. They will never ask for help; so as someone they have personally helped many times and love my child; I am making this (with Lucy’s knowledge and approval) to help ease some of the stress and burden.
