Hi. My name is Jennifer and I am raising funds for a close family friend, whose 7-year-old son is battling stage 4 cancer. In March of this year, Rashad started experiencing foot pain. After a few weeks of persistent pain, he went to an orthopedic doctor who diagnosed the pain as an irritation of his growth plate. He was placed in a boot for three weeks. After another month without relief, they decided to remove the growth, as it kept growing. An MRI was done and revealed a tumor on that foot.

At that time, they were referred to Riley Children's Hospital for a biopsy, and Rashad was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Rhabdomyosarcoma. The next step was a PET scan, which showed the cancer had spread to his lungs. The oncologists at Riley quickly set up a plan that was set to start immediately. Rashad will have both chemo and radiation. The chemo will occur in Indianapolis for 48 weeks, and the radiation that will have the least side effects will occur over a 6 week period in Cincinnati.

This is a huge undertaking for the family as they will travel weekly to Ohio as well as downtown Indianapolis.

As we all know, healthcare is extremely expensive, especially in a situation like this. In addition to the healthcare costs, traveling and lodging are also required as part of the radiation treatments out of state. This will require Jessica to be off work at least a few days per week, as well as time to be with her son.

I am kindly asking for any amount you are able to give towards the family. As if a 7-year-old being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer isn't devastating enough, the cost will be astronomical.
