Hello, my name is Pat Collins. And in May I received notice from my apartment complex, Park 25 Apartments, that they would not be renewing my lease with them. This is not because of non-payment of rent. As a matter of fact, I pay my rent by the 20th of every month, 10 days before it is even due.

Instead, it’s because I have lived here for 17 years & there are many things that need refurbished. The apartment has not been painted in that time, the carpet was 5 years old when I moved in, wallpaper is peeling off the kitchen walls, & the counter tops are avocado green. I have asked for new carpet & upgrade on the kitchen, but they tell me these things cannot be done till I move out.

So, now I am being forced to move out by July 31st. I have been looking for an apartment, but have not found one yet. However, it will be a real struggle for me to pay my last month’s rent here, and first month’s rent and deposit at the new location. Also, I am 74 years old, so most of the people who helped me move 17 years ago are my age or men who are busy with their young families. So I am asking for your help in paying the rent & movers.
