After finishing our first calendar year in business on December 31, 2019, our team was on cloud nine. It was David versus Goliath since 2015 but our team was always ready to overcome any obstacle in front of us…
In 2015, experts in the restaurant and hospitality industry said OOH RAW! would just be another “poke shop” in the country. In 2015, experts in the restaurant and hospitality industry said OOH RAW! would fail in it’s first year. In 2016, experts in the restaurant and hospitality industry said the goal for OOH RAW! in the first year was unrealistic. In 2017, many questioned why we would open OOH RAW! in the Wynwood Art District with so many competitors around us. In 2018-2019, experts, investors, and customers asked us to open OOH RAW! all over the world from California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and more. Our team looked back at 2018-2019 and realized our journey just begun. What was once a dream became a reality and we were ready to show the world the OOH RAW! experience.
After overachieving in our first year, our team entered 2020 ready to expand and open in South Miami in Spring 2020, Doral in Summer 2020, Miami Beach in Winter 2020, and other cities across Florida and the United States in 2021-2022. With our expansion strategy, we were planning to hire over 75 team members and make a bigger contribution to our charity, the Wounded Warrior Project, to support veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound while serving in the military. As we headed into the busiest months of the year in Miami, our lives and goals would forever change due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Covid-19 has caused us to furlough employees, reduce pay and hours, and delay our expansion to hire over 75 new team members. With your help and generosity (it doesn't matter how much, any donation will help at this time), we can keep our Wynwood location open, provide wages to assist our team members with their rent, health insurance, groceries, and utilities, and expand OOH RAW! in South Miami, Doral, and Miami Beach in order hire more team members in our community. Hopefully, we’ll be able to open OOH RAW! all over the world to employ hundreds, if not thousands, of people for years to come.
