Hi, I’m Lexy and my roommate Nic slipped and fell in our house on Monday night, February 17th, resulting in 2 gashes on her face, multiple facial fractures, and a dislocated jaw. The fall was caused by a POTS episode. POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) causes fainting and lightheadedness and is relieved by sitting/lying down. Nic was walking to go sit down in a chair when she fell. This incident is a bold reminder for all who know someone with POTS or have POTS themselves to listen to their body and immediately sit down on the ground no matter where they are; there is no time to move to a more comfortable space.

After going to the ER Monday night, Nic had emergency jaw surgery on Tuesday and is now in recovery for the next 6-8 weeks. Nic has an amazing support system but is unable to do the work needed for her business and had recently been laid off from her day job.

Nic is an amazing friend, incredibly talented designer, and exceptional mother to her dog Ghost, so I just really want her to have the best outcome when she comes out on the other side of this. If anyone is in the position to donate, anything helps. This will cover Nic’s rent, food (she has to be on an all-liquid diet), pet expenses, car payment, medical expenses, and anything else needed for this unexpected recovery.
