Support needy in Newham
During Ramadan, we started a hot food service thinking to share iftar with our friends and neighbours.
On the first day there were 4 people. Now with only 1-2 more iftars left, we are serving 800+ people everyday.
We've found people in severe difficulty. Walking miles with their families to get a hot meal.
COVID19 and the lockdown has devastated people's lives. Newham has been the worst affected area by far.
Hunger will not end on Eid day. We can't let our neighbours go hungry.
We have got commitment from at least 4 masjids that will run a food distribution service for the upcoming months. We are working hard to add to that list.
We need the community to come and support us again. The last fundraiser was closed after 6 days and an awe-inspiring £10,468 because we didn't think we could distribute any more than that. Most of it is now gone.
We are supporting people stranded in the UK, international students who don't even have money to top their phones up, families whose breadwinners are out of work. We will provide cooked and uncooked food and financial support. Many of these people are eligible for zakat and we have distributed thousands from local donors to people already.
