Support My Solidarity Tour to Peru
Beschermde donatie
Hi! I'm raising funds to take part in a Solidarity Tour to Peru this July (13–25, 2025) with Development and Peace (D&P) – Caritas Canada. This is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with communities in the Global South who are courageously defending their land, rights, and dignity.
During the trip, I’ll be visiting partners in Lima and the Amazon region — organizations working on the frontlines of social, environmental, and Indigenous justice. Through this experience, I’ll learn directly from their struggles and solutions, and return to Canada equipped to raise awareness, advocate more effectively, and share their powerful stories.
I need your support to make this possible. Your contribution will help cover travel costs, accommodations, and other program expenses — and more importantly, it will help build bridges of solidarity across borders.
Who Am I
Hi, my name is Laura, and I’m originally from Colombia. I moved to Canada in 2018 and now live in Toronto. Since I can remember, I’ve been passionate about social justice and standing in solidarity with those experiencing poverty, exclusion, or injustice.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in many forms of volunteer work — from supporting children’s education in Colombia to serving vulnerable communities in Canada through organizations like the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Marian Centre, and the Social Justice Committee at SJC in Edmonton.
In 2021, I began volunteering with D&P – Caritas Canada, an organization that completely reshaped how I view international solidarity. Rather than imposing outside solutions, D&P partners with communities in the Global South, listening deeply to their voices, and supporting their own visions for justice and dignity
For two years, I had the honour of serving as the Youth Representative for Alberta and the Northwest Territories, engaging young people and raising awareness around global justice. Today, I’m thrilled to have been selected as one of the participants in this year’s Solidarity Tour to Peru.
Why It Matters to Me
I believe we all have a role to play in building a more just world and this journey is part of how I live that commitment. If you feel moved to support me, I would be deeply grateful — whether through a donation, your prayers, or by staying connected and engaging with this journey.
Thank you so much for your support
