Help Me Walk and Create Again: Support My Exoskeleton Trial in New York City

Here’s the deal: I have only five days to raise $7000.00 CAD to lock in a life-changing opportunity. (Goal changed to $9500 due to increased hotel costs associated with coinciding busy NY Met Gala and hotel flight ferry schedules adding 2 additional hotel nights at YVR airport.)

What’s the opportunity? I’ve been invited to New York to try out a new exoskeleton—a game-changing device that could help me stand and walk again. I’ve been working towards this for twenty-eight years; honestly, it’s a total dream come true. It’s not just about walking again; it’s about reclaiming the freedom to create and pushing myself beyond what’s possible.

Many of you have watched me challenge the world as a person with tetraplegia, relying on a wheelchair for mobility. I’ve travelled the world independently, designed an award-winning home in North Vancouver, written and directed *Carts of Darkness* (2008, NFB), moved to Mexico to learn to paint, and rebuilt my life on Salt Spring Island, where I opened Walletmoth Studios to paint and sculpt. I’ve pushed the limits wherever opportunity faced me, beyond the obstacles, and loved all of it. But I did none of it standing. And here is my chance.

This journey is being documented in a feature-length film directed by me and mostly filmed by me. The documentary is about pushing limits, living independently, and finding freedom through art and sport. It’s about showing that no matter how hard life hits, you can always rise above and keep going.

But here's the reality: Travelling solo means the logistics add up fast—accessible hotels, transportation, shipping equipment, and extra help. I’m not asking for a ton, just enough to cover the basics and make this happen.
