Support my evangelistic trip to Malawi

Hello, my name is Samuel.

First, I would just like to thank you for taking the time to view my gofundme page.

Just before you read about why I am raising money, let me tell you a bit about myself.

Biography

I grew up in a Christian home-schooling family in West Wales, UK.

I'm 21 years old, (22 on the 22nd of April coincidentally).

I worked as a chef for over 4 years in a hotel, while doing my Professional Cookery A-Levels alongside. This was working toward getting my own Cafe, which might be something I still do in the future.

Regarding my own faith, I am a Christian, saved by grace, through faith in my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. I grew up knowing He was there when I wanted/needed to talk with Him. I grew far closer to Him through difficulty and confusion, because when I was sad and confused, tired and anxious, I was able to talk to Him, and worship Him through it. God has been holding my hand through it all. I would get really low sometimes, but He would always bring me hope, even in very little things, He was just clearly evident in my life. 1 John 5:9-13. Even now, I take joy in knowing Christ, and wish to serve Him in this life, and worship Him for evermore. James 1:26-27

Why Africa?

I have wanted to go to Africa for a long time, even as a little boy playing with my African animals.

Growing up, hearing, seeing, imagining anything about Africa, really took my interest and heart, creating a passion in me that is surprisingly still present.

I'm reluctant to say that I feel the Lord's calling to this continent, except to say that I'm very drawn to it. I want to do missionary work, like evangelism, practical jobs, working with children, and supporting families. Proverbs 16:3.

I care and have a heart for the African children, that they would come to know the Lord Jesus as their personal saviour and friend.

I love the outdoors and seeing God's creation, even in this fallen state.
I have a passion for God's Word, and love to evangelise.

My friend has been out to this family's house before, and so was quick to ask if he would have me stay with them.
He said it would be a great opportunity for me to go to Africa and get involved with evangelistic work.

Sometimes I wondered if I would ever actually reach the continent, or would it just be the still dream that didn't flow. Even now with my flights booked, it still feels unreal.

What will I be doing/hoping to learn?

I'll be travelling to Malawi mid April for a month to gain knowledge and experience in the evangelistic field, staying with a family out there where the dad works for an organisation called 'SCOM ' (Student Christian Organisation of Malawi).

"The Student Christian Organisation of Malawi is an indigenous interdenominational organisation committed to the evangelisation, discipleship and training of students so that they would love and serve the Lord effectively in the Church and in the world".

I hope to learn how to serve the Lord practically and Biblically.

Seeking glory, not for myself, but for the Lord. Romans 12:3.

I hope to learn how to walk wisely, Ephesians 5:15-21.

I pray that this will teach me how to present the Gospel in Africa, and that it gives me the tools I need to trust God's will and good purpose, not just for Africa, but throughout the rest of my life.

Funds will go towards:

  • Equipment, travel, medication, food, accommodation/gifts for host, and insurance.
  • Funds will go directly to my account and will be spent with my choosing. They will NOT go towards any organisation or company.

Ways to pray for me

  • For my relationship with Jesus to grow deeper and stronger
  • For opportunities to give the gospel to those who want to hear
  • For safe travels and good health
  • For my speaking to be clear and biblical, but powered by the Holy Spirit
  • For me to learn how to apply God's word to my life, and clearly show others
