We've discovered that our garbage bill hasn't been paid by our landlord since 2016, creating a $23,000 balance for our entire fourplex—and legally, due to our status as the master address, we're responsible. While we refuse to pay the full amount we knew nothing about, we're committed to covering our fair quarter share of $6,300, but the city won't accept installments and we lack the reserves for this unexpected blow.
