Mental Health Tanzania (MHT) is the leading mental health institution in Tanzania registered as Non-Government Organization (NGO) committed in advocating, promoting, and supporting Mental Healthcare and wellbeing of individuals as well as implementing various preventive and intervention measures such as community psychological and psychosocial support, psychoeducation, and mental health awareness.

Moreover, we provide holistic mental health clinical services such as psychiatric services, psychotherapy, counselling and guidance through assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and management of mental illnesses and psychological challenges.

MHT experience is that has been working with different groups of people (Beneficiaries) including, children, youths, women, marginalized groups, and all individuals who not only were suffering from mental health problems and psychological challenges but also people who needed mental health motivations for their everyday lives.

For instance, for the last three years MHT has conducted more than 50 seminars, workshops, trainings, conferences, and summits around the country in partnership/ collaboration other agencies, partners, and stakeholders of which in return MHT has impacted millions of Tanzanians for their mental health.

More than 11000 students in primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, and universities were trained as a part of psychosocial support, psychoeducation, and mental health awareness program of the organization.

MHT has been providing psychotherapy, supervision, counselling, and and guidance through our clinics in Dar Es Salaam, Dodoma, and Mwanza of which these assets have served surrounding communities for their mental health and psychological challenges.

To ensure all communities are reached with timely and reliable services, MHT uses Tele-mental health services program, hence, MHT launched Mental Health Tanzania App, mental health forum, and online outlets as well as using available MHT hotline number (0742 501 501) to provide mental health services.

MHT have recognized the existing effects of GBV around Tanzania communities and realized that the practice has been a major cause of mental problems and disabilities. Therefore, MHT coordinate the GBV victims to get medical, mental, legal supports as well as mental health first aid and emergencies.

Most people who are suffering from mental health challenges and mental disorders are coming from families with no ability to pay for the therapy or psychological treatment. Here in Tanzania sessions cost from 25£ to 70£ and MHT has been providing psychotherapy for 7£ and people still cannot afford to contribute the amount.

MHT has a great dedication to preventing people from undergoing severe mental illnesses and psychological challenges. The targeted amount is 30,000£.

MHT is asking and requesting people to donate any amount of money or materials (in kind support) to help facilitate free therapy/counselling for Tanzanian children, adolescents, youths, and women, as well as supporting administration expenses, outreach programs, running mental health clubs, operating the office operations, stationaries, constant bill payments, awareness programs, rent for MHT clinics & offices, audit and accountancy fees, report writing fee, yearly fee for associations membership, toll free- hotline program, yearly government fee, capacity building for MHT administration, as well as support volunteers in the organization.
