A couple of months ago Lizzy was diagnosed with Stage IIIC Metastatic Mucosal Melanoma. This is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, with a 60% survival rate and an 80% chance of recurrence.

Unfortunately, her recent biopsies revealed that the cancer spread and metastasized to her lymph nodes. As a result, she is expected to start immunotherapy treatment this week, for one year, and continue to be closely monitored by doctors for the next 5 years. Depending how her body and the cancer reacts to immunotherapy, she could potentially move on to more aggressive treatments (such as radiation or chemotherapy.)

As you already know, treatment of any kind is expensive, but especially so when insurance doesn’t cover the resources you need. That being said, the the treatment to help eliminate this cancer will affect her potential to have children of her own someday. We are putting together this GoFundMe for Lizzy to assist with her journey as she battles cancer, and to ensure her the opportunity to start her own family once this is over and done.

The funds raised will support Lizzy in rebuilding her life after months of being unable to work due to her diagnosis and surgeries. Most importantly, for her egg preservation, which is not covered by insurance, but can cost upward of $20,000. Any remaining money raised here will go toward a health fund for Lizzy to be used in the future for any possibility of the cancer recurring.
