Support Larry Fortner's Cancer Battle

Hello everyone, Crystal Gale and Patti Gunn Watkins here. Our classmate from the Class of NRHS 1981, Larry Fortner, sure could use our help right now. Last month Larry drove himself to the ER after falling over in pain from his gut. He had to have emergency surgery for a cancerous tumor in his colon and intestines. If that wasn't bad enough, upon waking and coming around, he called his job to tell them why he hadn't called in and why he wasn't there. They told him too bad, he should have called in before hand and they fired him. He had never missed one day of work!!! Let that sink in!!

Larry and I(Crystal) have spent some long days at Baptist Hospital. His bloodwork shows that he still has cancer. He is looking at 6 months of chemo. It is very draining and has made him so sick. We spent a 14 hour day at Baptist for him to get his port put in then 2.5 hours of chemo and then he was sent home with chemo in a ball to enter him for the next 46 hours.

Larry has taken steps to retire thru SSA. His appointment is not until January, which means he will not get a check until March. They hold you a moth behind. Larry has set up thru his insurance for rides to his chemo appointments since he lives in King, NC. But, if any of you want to volunteer for rides that would be great, too.

What Larry needs the most right now is funds for rent, electric, etc. His landlord has been VERY understanding, but it can only go so far. He needs to pay rent and his bills so he doesn't end up without a home. I am working to get him an apartment at The Yadkin House. That takes awhile.

Can the Class of '81 come together and help our classmate and friend out? Of course, anyone can donate, not just this class!!! He needs all the help he can get!! So Patti and myself will make sure his bills get paid all you have to do is press that donate button.
